How to Promote Your Channel (To The Top) – 6 Tips

– Now when you think of promoting something, what do you initially think about? Maybe cheesy giveaways, or slick salespeople who are just trying to get you to buy something. That’s at least what I think of when I think of promoting something. Or I think of a club promoter, a super-sketchy dude who’s just trying to sell you a bottle at the club. Well I’m here to tell you that promoting your YouTube channel is very, very different than all of those things, and you can actually do it with a lot of dignity and be able to keep your brand very safe in the meantime.

Keep watching. (casual offbeat) Hey there, my name’s Adam Lodolce from Viewership.com, where I help you exponentially grow your viewership so you can build your business and your brand, and this video is all about some secret hacks to be able to promote your YouTube channel. For starters, cross-promote with other platforms. For example, let’s say you have a decent Instagram following, you have a decent YouTube following, one of the best things that you can do is create a shortened version of your video and upload it to Instagram, and then at the end of the video or even at the beginning of the video, say, in order to watch the full video, click the link in the description. Add the link to your YouTube video in your description, and boom, you have now cross-promoted, and now people are gonna go from your Instagram account to your YouTube account. Very, very effective. Next, collaborate with people who have a bigger following than you. One of the best things that I did when I started Viewership is I started collaborating with one of my clients, Neil Patel.

Neil Patel is world-renowned when it comes to SEO and content marketing and digital marketing, and I thought that we could have actually a pretty good thing here. I have a lot of knowledge when it comes to YouTube and video marketing. He has a lot of knowledge when it comes to just digital marketing and SEO content. So it’s just a natural collaboration. And what do you know? Before I knew it, I was just a regular on his account.

You’ll see me there every single Thursday on his Q&A Thursdays, and I’m in there. So, that’s an example of me collaborating in the business space. Depending on what space you’re in, it actually may be easier. I think in the business space, it’s hard just ’cause there aren’t that many actually doing it successfully. If you’re in other spaces, then you can definitely collaborate, right? Especially if you have a massive PO product or a massive PO program, it’s very, very easy to do this.

In my space, dating and relationship space for my other channel and my other brand, it’s super-easy to collaborate with other YouTubers who have a big audience. Because chances are, let’s say I collaborate with someone who has an audience of women from the ages of 20 to 35, chances are there are millions of women in that audience that would be interested in my sexy confidence programs. So that’s a great way of collaborating. The only thing I have found to be difficult about collaborating in all transparency is in order to create great content, you have to go, you have to meet up with each other, right? If you don’t live in LA, I happen to live in Boston, most of the collaborations with good YouTubers, they all happen in LA. So, that’s one of the downsides, but if you’re just starting off from scratch, I mean I fly to LA to work with Neil every couple of months, shoot the video, it’s worth it for me. It kind of just depends on how dedicated you really are. Next, use email marketing to capture your leads, your audience, your viewership, and then make sure you send them new videos every single time you release a new video.

Don’t rely on YouTube subscriptions, right? You can have 300,000, a million subscribers, but not every single one of those subscribers are going to get notified whenever you release a new video. That’s why I love email, that’s why I even love Facebook Messenger, right? These are ways that you can be able to connect directly with your viewership or your audience in a more direct way. I will release, any time I release a new video to YouTube, and what I find is anytime I do release a new video, I will send it within the hour to my email lists of over 100,000 people, and I’ll find that instantly, that boosts the video and YouTube really likes that.

They like when you’re promoting it from other platforms as well. ‘Cause YouTube wants all the attention. Next is use YouTube Ads. Nowadays, you really have to pay to play. You have to pay to play in a lot of these platforms. Facebook did this a long time ago where some people had Facebook pages of two million likes, and then overnight, Facebook decided that they’re not gonna let content reach those two million people, you have to start paying for that. And YouTube hasn’t done that as aggressively with their subscribers, with YouTube subscribers, but they’re getting there, right? YouTube is starting to understand, there’s so much value in getting your videos in front of people.

And even if you have, let’s say, I have 300,000 subscribers, they’re starting to find that brands like myself will pay in order to reach those people, and it’s worth it, right? I’m happy to pay thousands of dollars to be able to reach my audience because I have a business model behind it. So these are things you want to think about with your own business if you do have a business, if you don’t have a business, you want to have some type of way of monetizing, whether it’s coaching, consulting, selling products, what have you, you want to have some type of business model in order to, and sometimes it can even be just upgraded content, better videos, right? Or, it could even be Patreon for quite, quite, (laughing), quite frankly.

Just have some way to be able to make money from your YouTube audience. Then you can use YouTube ads to even push it out even further, and so long as for every single dollar you spend in YouTube ads, you’re making $back, then you can keep doing it until it stops being profitable. Next, interview or create videos about influencers in your niche. I see it all the time with, for example, Tai Lopez, he is a famous internet marketer, and he has a pretty big YouTube channel. And I see all the time a lot of YouTube channels will create videos about Tai, and sometimes making fun of him, sometimes not making fun of him, so sometimes adding to the conversation. But because that video is about Tai Lopez, what happens? That video is then going to show up after other Tai Lopez videos. Same thing goes with, if you do interview influencers in your niche. People who have a large social media following, if you manage to get a good interview with them, and you share it on your channel, what can you then do? You could email them and say, hey, just want to share this video with you, we had this interview.

Of course, we’d love it if you shared it with your audience. If not, no problem. Of course, you don’t want to push it, don’t push too hard. But say look, if you want to share this with your audience, we would greatly appreciate it. And most of the time if it’s good content, they’re gonna want to share it with their audience. Why not, it doesn’t matter to them. And you get to kind of draft and kind of steal their audience in some ways. Now don’t do it unethically, don’t do it just to maniacally steal the audience, right? Do it because you want to add value just to the whole conversation. Next, create Q&A videos from comments in your videos.

There’s no better way to be able to engage and get your audience excited than showing that you’re reading every single comment, to be able to respond to those comments with text, but also creating videos that directly responds to questions that you’re getting. Right now, this channel’s pretty small, we don’t have that many comments on it. But, I’d love to hear your comment, leave a comment below, any questions you have about this, and I’d be happy to answer this in a future video.

So go ahead and leave that comment, I’ll end this video with this, but I appreciate you being here, I appreciate you being a part of this amazing community. And look, I know promoting your YouTube channel can be hard at first, I know it can be scary. I know it can be difficult putting yourself out there, but I need you to believe in yourself. I need you to believe in your content. And even if you feel like it’s not that good right now, it’ll get better, it gets better with every single video that you release. And if you can believe in yourself and believe in the message that you have to share with this world, then I assure you that your community will also believe in it as well. So, thank you again so much for watching. Again, if you enjoyed this, please give it a like. Comment, subscribe, share, do all that good stuff. And finally, if you want more advice on how to be able to become a YouTube entrepreneur and build that business, go ahead and click the link in the description, click the link right there, it’ll take you to Viewership.com where you can get that free training.

Thank you so much for watching, and I’ll speak to you next week, bye-bye. .
